Police have arrested a 50-year- old woman for allegedly stealing jewellery and cash from her relative's house in south Delhi's Khirki Extension.
Deepak Kumar approached police with a complaint that jewellery and Rs 9.57 lakh in cash had been stolen from his house, said Deputy Commissioner of Police (South) Ishwar Singh.
In the complaint, he said that on the evening of May 7, he along with his wife had gone to their relative's house in Laxmi Nagar for dinner.
When they came back the next day, they found that the locks of their house and almirah were intact but cash and jewellery articles had been stolen.
Since there were no signs of forced entry in the house and the locks weren't found to be broken, it was suspected that someone close to Deepak and his family had stolen the valuables, police said.
Police questioned the relatives of the complainant, neighbours and security guards. They also examined the CCTV footage from the surrounding area and the needle of suspicion pointed towards one Shabnam, maternal aunt of Deepak's wife.
