A woman was today hit by a bullet under mysterious circumstances near the LoC in Naushera sector of Rajouri district, a day after Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh visited the area.
Rahmat Bi (35), a resident of Pokhari village, complained of immense pain in her thigh early this morning after sleeping outside her house, and on inspection by her family, blood was noticed oozing out from a wound, a police official said.
She was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital where a bullet was removed from her thigh.
It was not immediately known how she was hit by the bullet, the official said.
The official said that there was virtually no ceasefire violation by Pakistan in the sector but a stray bullet hitting the woman from across the border cannot be ruled out.
The home minister yesterday visited Naushera and reviewed the status of ceasefire violation-led migration, relief camps, rescue and rehabilitation measures as well as various issues and demands of border migrants at a high-level meeting.
After a detailed discussion with public representatives and senior officers, Singh asked the Centre and state government for comprehensive action plan about various issues and demands raised for the welfare, settlement and safety of border residents, officials added.
