In yet another case of suspected road rage in the national capital, a woman journalist and her colleague were allegedly assaulted by three men near Delhi-Noida border in east Delhi's Mayur Vihar area in the wee hours here today.
The incident took place around 6:30 AM today after the complainant Chanchal Saini and her colleague Dilip Pandey were on their way back to their residence after doing their night shifts.
"Near Ambedkar Park in Noida, a speeding truck whizzed past their car in a dangerous manner. The duo decided to overtake the truck, stop it and report the matter to police," said a police official.
However, when the girl and her colleague stopped their car near Chilla police post, two men reached their in an SUV. One of them identified as Ravi got into an argument with the duo. Soon, the truck driver, identified as Pawan (27) also joined them.
"The complainant alleged that instead of being apologetic for the driver's actions, all of them started arguing with her and his colleague and even misbehaved with the woman and roughed up Pandey. The duo then called police," he added.
Pandey's medical examination was conducted after which a case under relevant sections was registered against all three accused at the Mayur Vihar police station.
The police immediately swung into action and arrested two persons, including Ravi, who were travelling in the SUV. Efforts are on to nab Pawan, the driver of the truck.
Saini works as a video editor at a private news channel, Pandey is a producer in the same organisation.
