Woman killed, 5 others injured as car falls into gorge

A 42-year-old woman was killed and five others sustained injuries, one seriously, when their traveling fell into a 150-foot deep gorge near Kallhatti hairpin bend, about 20 Kms from here today.
A couple--Radha and Shankaran, along with three girls, aged 15 years, were returning to Kozhikode in Kerala, after visiting tourist spots in Nilgiris district, with one Rajesh driving the car, police said.
As the vehicle reached 15th hairpin bend, the driver reportedly lost control of the vehicle and fell into gorge, which was noticed by a car driver coming up to this tourist town, they said.
With the help of some villagers, the driver Aneesh brought them up from the gorge and admitted them to the government hospital here.

However, Radha died on admission, while one girl Ananya, with serious head injuries, was taken to Coimbtore Government hospital.
