A 40-year-old woman was killed allegedly by a tiger in the Katarniaghat Wildlife Sanctuary area here, a forest official said.

The body of Gulabia Devi, a resident of Bishnapur village, was found in the Katarnia beat on Friday morning, police said.

The condition in which the body was found suggests that the woman was attacked by a tiger, the official said, adding that the area is frequented by wild animals.

The body has been sent for postmortem. Monetary help is being extended to the family of the deceased, Divisional Forest Officer GP Singh said.

According to locals, the woman was dragged from an agricultural field and killed by the tiger.
