Woman, lover end life in the periphery of Golden Temple

A 20-year-old woman and her lover allegedly committed suicide in the periphery of the Golden Temple here by consuming some poisonous substance this evening, police said.
Kirandeep Kaur and Amritpal Singh (30), residents of Batala town of Gurdaspur district, were missing since last one year.
Their family members had earlier reported the matter to police about them going missing.
Police said that according to preliminary investigations the deceased were in a relationship but their families disapproved of it, which forced the couple to leave their hometown a year back.
A case has been registered in this regard and the matter is being investigated, police said, adding, that the incident was reported to them by the SGPC (Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee).
