A woman Malaysian national was Thursday arrested at the international airport here for allegedly carrying undeclared foreign currency worth over Rs 47 lakh, the Customs said.
Rayavarapu Sridevi, 54, was to board a flight to Kuala Lumpur when customs personnel found her carrying 67,6700 US Dollars and seized them, a Customs release said.
She was allegedly carrying USD 24,300 in her hand baggage and USD 43,300 in her check-in baggage that was retrieved from aircraft following her questioning, it said.
"The currency undeclared in her baggage has been seized under the provisions of Customs Act read with Foreign Exchange Management Act," it said.
On Wednesday night, gold totally worth Rs 5.02 lakh and weighing 181 grams was seized from two passengers, who allegedly kept it concealed in their rectums, on their arrival from Colombo and Kula Lumpur, the release said adding further investigation on.
