Woman Maoist guerrilla 'Lalita' arrested in Chhattisgarh state

A prominent female member of military wing of the banned Communist Party of India (Maoist) operating in the North Bastar region, was arrested from insurgency-hit Kanker district of Chhattisgarh here today, the police said.
The 24-year-old 'Lalita', a prominent member of CPI Maoist's military battalion number two, was arrested by a joint team of security personnel from Udanpur village under Koyalibeda police station limits, Bhanupratappur Sub Divisional Officer of Police (SDOP) Tarkeshwar Patel told PTI, adding that she is currently being interrogated.
After being tipped off that the woman rebel had arrived at her native place in Udanpur to meet her parents, a joint squad of the Border Security Force (BSF) and the district police force was mobilised this afternoon, he said.
After reaching the spot located in the restive Kayalibeda patch, which is around 250 kms away from Chhattisgarh's capital Raipur, security personnel surrounded the village and then arrested 'Lalita', the SDOP said.
