The incident took place on Sunday evening at Barsu village when the 45-year-old Pankhi Devi, a widow, was cooking in her kitchen, they said.
The leopard attacked the victim and dragged her away even as the woman raised an alarm. When the villagers heard her cries, they ran after the animal, the officials said.
On seeing the crowd running after it, the big cat ran into the forest, leaving the woman dead about 100 metres from her residence, they said.
In the last one-and-a-half years, leopards have killed 11 people and left 60 injured in the district.
