Woman physiotherapist found murdered at home

A 24-year-old woman physiotherapist was found murdered at her house in suburban Vile Parle early this morning, with the autopsy report indicating she was sexually assaulted before the killing, police said.
The woman was found dead around 3 AM with burn injuries on her face and a pair of jeans wrapped around her neck, they said.
"Based on the autopsy report, we are filing a case of rape and murder," said a senior police official late this evening.
The woman lived with her parents at a one-plus tenement in a chawl. She occupied the top room which served as her study room.

A neighbour of theirs said they saw smoke coming out of her room and alerted her parents. As her parents and others went upstairs and doused the fire in the room, they found her lying dead on the floor, the police official said.
Another neighbour said she was last seen with two of her female friends who were at her place till 11 pm.
