"Till now no FIR has been lodged with the police and the allegation of assault, if any, has not been intimated to the police but to the media," Panchayat Minister Subrata Mukherjee told reporters here.
He, however, said Trinamool Congress would definitely look into any allegation of misdemeanour against its party leader Arabul Islam.
He said the verbal duel between professor Debjani De and Islam on Wednesday was blown "out of proportion" by a section of the media.
De had alleged that Arabul hurled abusive words and threw a water-filled jug at her during a meeting on the issue of punctuality of teachers at the college.
The Trinamool leader had denied the charge, saying it was a "CPI(M) conspiracy against me and also to tarnish the image of my party".
Referring to the allegation of lack of punctuality by some professors of the college, Mukherjee said any person, be a doctor, teacher or anybody, has the right to pursue any political agenda "but that should not have any reflection in their professional duty".
