A woman was rewarded for helping the Delhi Police in arresting a man who allegedly snatched her gold chain while she was returning home on Saturday.
In her complaint, the victim alleged that when she was returning home at around 3 pm, a bike-borne man snatched her gold chain near her residence in Dwarka's Uttar Nagar, police said.
The woman, however, tried to nab the accused, following which the man along with his vehicle fell down, said Anto Alphonse, deputy commissioner of police (Dwarka).
The woman applied her presence of mind and clicked the photo of the motorcycle and the accused on her mobile phone, the DCP said.
The accused managed to flee from the spot on the motorcycle, leaving behind her chain that fell on the road, The vehicle number provided by the woman helped police trace the owner of the vehicle, the officer said.
During investigation, it came to the fore that the motorcycle was registered in the name of a woman, Renu, who told the police that her son had given the bike to a person named Ramu, he said.
Subsequently, Ramu (26) was arrested, after which he confessed about snatching the gold chain, he said, adding that two stolen bikes were also recovered from his possession.
