Woman seeks police protection from rape accused

A 26-year-old woman, who was allegedly raped a year ago and was later shot at by the accused, has sought police protection here.
The woman, fearing danger to her life from accused Kayyum, met SP Rakesh Jolly and sought police protection yesterday.
The woman was allegedly raped by Kayyum a year ago following which a case was filed by the police in this connection which is currently pending in the court.
Kayuum pressurised the victim to withdraw the charges against him. However, the woman did not concede to his demands, following which she was shot at by the accused and two of his accomplices on September 14.

Kayyum, who was on bail, was arrested on charges of attempt to murder on September 17.
The woman was admitted in a hospital and is currently undergoing treatment. However, she met SP, Crime yesterday and sought police protection.
