Woman set afire by lover

A 21-year-old woman was today set on fire by her lover, who had called her for marriage, in Dalchandra locality in Sadar area here, police said.
Nazma, a resident of Bareilly, was set afire by her lover Yunus this morning when she reached his house for marriage, they said.
The woman, who received 80 per cent burn injuries, was rushed to the hospital where her condition was stated to be serious and referred to a Bareilly hospital.
In her statement, the woman told police that she had come to Pilibhit as Yunus called her for 'nikah' but when she reached his house, he set her on fire.

Yunus and his entire family is absconding, Circle officer, Nirmal Bist said.
A probe is on in the matter.
