A 44-year-old woman allegedly set herself ablaze in central Delhi's Paharganj area, police said today.
The woman, identified as Babli, committed suicide as she was depressed over her ailments, said a senior police officer.
However, her parents and brother alleged that Babli was burnt to death by her husband Sushil and 22-year-old son Kashu.
The body has been handed over to her family members after conducting an autopsy.
"Yesterday, in the wee hours, Babli's family received a call from her in-laws that Babli had been taken to Ram Manohar Lohia (RML) Hospital since she was unwell. When Babli's parents and relatives reached the hospital, they found that Babli had died due to severe burn injuries. Police were also informed about the death by the hospital staff," he said.
Sushil told police that around 1.30 AM, Babli set herself on fire in a room.
She was rushed to RML Hospital where she died during treatment, said her husband.
Babli's relatives alleged that her husband and son used to fight with her over trivial issues.
