The 32-year-old woman, who was washing her clothes, had presumed that the leopard was running towards her, while it was actually in pursuit of a dog.
However, the woman tripped and fell on the ground, resulting in a fracture on her right hand.
She has been admitted to the hospital, forest officials said.
Meanwhile, Wild Life warden and Reserve forest officer Sornappan said the population of wild animals, including leopard, had gone up and they would have strayed into human habitats as it was close to the wild life region.
Forest officials have increased patrolling and steps are being taken to push the animals into the deep forests, he added.
