Four members of a family allegedly committed suicide by jumping into a salt creek at a village in East Godavari district in the wee hours today, police said.
Bhulakshmi (45) and her three sons Prabhu Prakash (22), Anil Kumar (20) and Prem Sagar (17) ended their lives by jumping into the salt creek at Amaravilli village.
Heavy debt and kidney ailment of one of the sons were suspected to be the reasons behind their extreme step, police said.
The bodies were later fished out and sent for postmortem to Government General Hospital, Kakinada.
A case has been registered in connection with the incident, police added.
