The elephant from neighbouring Jharkhand attacked the hut of Kusumi Majhi at the village in Ujwalpur forest range late last night and killed her on the spot.
The jumbo disappeared into nearby forest after villagers raised an alarm.
With this, at least six people have lost their lives in elephant attack during the past 10 days in Sundargarh district, sources said.
As a precautionary measure, the forest department has evacuated the villages of Jamdihi, Jharmunda, Bijadihi
