The sessions court here today sentenced a woman to six years' rigorous imprisonment for killing her police officer husband.
"The court acquitted her under the charge of murder, but convicted her for lesser charge of culpable homicide not amounting to murder," said her lawyer advocate Amit Munde.
According to prosecution, Parvati, the accused, had a fight over a trivial issue with her husband, assistant police inspector Nandkishore Tapsalkar, then posted with the police training school, on April 27, 2013.
After Parvati called up the police helpline, Powai police took him to the police station and later released him.
"After coming back home he again started assaulting Parvati; she killed him by hitting him with a hammer and a heavy stone slab," advocate Munde said.
Parvati later went to the police station and surrendered.
