According to DSP ACB Datta Karale, until recently the number of women who were trapped and nabbed for alleged corrupt practices was very minimal but this year it has seen a steep rise.
The DSP was speaking to reporters here yesterday on various programmes undertaken by ACB during celebrations of the awareness week which began on October 27 and lasts till November 3.
Karale said till date in 2014, a total of 172 persons have been arrested for graft of which there are 18 women.
Also, this year, there was a rise of 179 percent in the number of traps. While last year, a total of 42 traps were laid, this year until now a total of 117 traps had been laid successfully.

Karale also said the Thane Range had done quality work instead of going in for numbers.
Of the total arrests, there were as many as 15 Class-I officials and 29 Class-II officials, he said, adding the department could get cent percent results in suspension of arrested officers.
Addl SP ACB, Thane Shrinivas Ghadge who was also present on the occasion said this year the department could get conviction in as many as six cases. In four cases, the matter had to be abetted due to death of the accused, he added.
He also said a street play has been conceived and staged by students of Karmaveer Bhaurao Patil College of Navi Mumbai which was being held in several places in the Range.
