Two African-origin women have been arrested for allegedly trying to smuggle out 37 kg of narcotics, worth Rs 37 lakh, at the IGI airport here today.
While in separate incident, a US-bound man was arrested for carrying six live cartridges, the CISF said.
In the first instance that occurred in the wee hours of today, a CISF check squad deployed at the Terminal-3 (T-3) of the IGI airport intercepted Medina Adriano (31), a Mocambicana national, when she arrived to take a flight to Johannesburg.
On finding her movements suspicious, security officials subjected the woman to a detailed frisking which led to the recovery of 20 kg of "pseudoephedrine" drug from her baggage.
In a similar incident late last night, CISF personnel stopped a 38-year-old Malawi national, identified as Viola Chanjira Mandota when she arrived to catch her flight to Addis Ababa.
"17 kg of the similar drug was recovered from her baggage during frisking," a senior CISF officer said.
Both the women and the seized drug have been handed over to anti-narcotics sleuths. The estimated cost of the narcotics is Rs 37 lakh, they said.
In an another incident, 53-year-old S S Sandhu was detained by CISF for allegedly carrying six live bullets of .32mm pistol in his baggage.
The incident occurred last night when Sandhu arrived at T-3 to travel to Chicago.
As he could not provide any valid documents for possessing the bullets, he was later arrested by Delhi Police under various sections of the Arms Act, they said.
