Women empowerment official held under PCA

An official of Women and Child Development Department was today held by Lokayukta officials for allegedly accepting Rs 10,000 from a person for giving an appointment letter of an anganwadi worker to his wife.
The official, was held while accepting Rs 10,000 from one Rohit Damor for giving an appointment letter to his wife as an anganwadi worker, a Lokayukta official said.
The official had demanded Rs 30,000 but after negotiations scaled down the demand to Rs 10,000 following which Lokayukta sleuths were tipped-off and she was caught.
A case under Prevention of Corruption Act was registered against her and further probe is on, the official added.
