Women will get 10 years of insurance cover: Harsimrat Kaur

All women and girls associated with the 'Nanhi Chaan' NGO and the model village 'Mann' will get an insurance cover of ten years on the occasion of Rakhar Punia under the Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana (PMSBY).
Disclosing this here today, Food Processing Industry Minister Harsimrat Kaur Badal announced she would distribute PMSBY cards to the girls and women under the 'Nanhi Chhan' Foundation at a function to be held in Bathinda and Mansa on August 27.
"I am taking this step as an elder sister to safeguard the interests of the families who are working selflessly for the betterment of society," she said.

A 10 years of insurance cover will also be provided to all the women of 'Mann' village, which is adopted under Adarsh Gram Yojna by the Union Minister on the occasion of Rakhar Puniya.
She said both steps would be a path breaking initiative resulting in provision of essential social security protection.
The Union Minister added that Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana (PMSBY) will offer accidental death cum disability cover of Rs 2 lakh (Rs 1 lakh for partial or permanent disability) to all savings bank account holders in the age group of 18 to 70 years for a premium of Rs 12/- per annum per subscriber.

Meanwhile, she said that on the occasion of Raksha Bandhan, the brothers must present the insurance cover as a gift to their sisters.
"It would be in then be in the fitness of things for brothers to gift Insurance cover to their sisters", she said.
