Addressing a rally at Sher-e-Kashmir Bhavan here this evening NC provincial president Devender Singh Rana said, in reference to BJP's campaign to scrap Article 370 which granted special status of the state, "Whenever BJP finds itself in a political whirlpool, it resorts to inciting passions by raking up frivolous issues."
Rana described special provision of the Constitution as guarantee to the legitimate rights of the people of Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh and warned, any attempt to weaken the state's unique status will be strongly opposed.
In this context, he referred to the role of the two parties in the 2008 agitation and the recent polls to the Legislative Council.
"But for the sagacity and farsightedness demonstrated by the people, BJP and PDP had virtually polarised Jammu and Kashmir regions during the land row agitation," he maintained.
Blend of youth and experience of elders will make NC a force to reckon with, he said, adding "Changing political landscape has unnerved those reposing faith in New Delhi rather than the people of the state."
