Wood logs worth Rs 8 cr to be auctioned in Feb-Mar in AP

Fine-quality wood logs worth about Rs 8 crore would go under the hammer in February and March in Andhra Pradesh's Rajahmundry, Gokavaram and East Godavari districts, a forest official said today.
"About Rs 8 crore worth of fine-quality wood logs would be auctioned in February and March in various depots, which are run by the state government," East Godavari Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) (Logging Division), K Rajasekhara Rao told reporters.
"We sell wood logs on a specific date every month, but this time we are auctioning the wood logs in the respective depots in February and March," Rao said.
The wood logs to be made available for auction include teak wood, Rosewood and other qualities, he said, adding it comprises wood collected from smuggling seizures, quality wood collected from forests and the floating wood that is collected from Godavari river after the rainy season, he said.
"We are expecting a revenue of Rs 5-6 crore through this auction. Interested persons including furniture makers, apartment builders, saw mill owners and others can take part and purchase the logs," he said.
He said the government depots are situated at Dowaleswaram in Rajahmundry, Sudikonda in Gokavaram and Addateegala in East Godavari district.
"The auction will be held from February 21-March 23. It will be held on February 21 in Dowaleswaram depot, on March 7 and March 18 in Sudikonda depot, and on March 23 in Addateegala depot," he apprised.
Interested buyers can participate by depositing a sum of Rs 5,000, he said.
