Initially, Woodland's outdoor eyewear would be available at its flagship stores in metros and later the company would introduce the new product in other cities.
"We are aiming to sell around 10,000 units this season, beginning this summer. In the first phase we will introduce these outdoor glasses at our Woodland concept stores in metros and in the next phase, we would take it to other places," Woodland Managing Director Harkirat Singh told PTI.
"These eyewear are not for fashion or reading, but only for utility for going outdoors," he said. Woodland's eyewears would have UV protection glass and interchangeable lenses with three modes, which could be set in accordance with different terrains.
At present, Woodland is importing eyewear frames from Taiwan.
Also, Woodland has plans to invest up to Rs 500 crore in the next five years on expanding its retail network. It plans to double the store count to 1,000 by 2020 from present 500.
The company had a revenue of nearly Rs 1,000 crore in 2013-14. It has set a target of Rs 2,500 crore revenue by 2020 from Rs 1,300 crore expected in 2014-15.
