Shivkumar Sahu was working in the mine, run by South Eastern Coalfields Ltd (SECL), when he got trapped following the collapse yesterday, a police official said.
The mine caved in when Sahu was making a hole overhead with a drilling machine, said Inspector R B Soni of Naurodabad Police Station, under whose jurisdiction the mishap took place.
He was pulled out and rushed to a hospital where the doctors pronounced him brought dead, Soni said.
"We have registered a case and further investigations are on," the officer added.
