The government has formed a working group for drafting a law on the National Urban Transport Authority of India (NUTAI), Union minister Deepa Dasmunshi said today.
"A working group for drafting law in National Urban Transport Authority of India (NUTAI) has been set up and three meetings of this working group have been held till date. It is at a preliminary stage presently," the minister of state in the Urban Development ministry said in a written reply to a member's question in Lok Sabha.
She had been asked if the government proposes to establish a national-level regulatory body or metro advisory board to formulate and coordinate the development plan for metro projects.
In response to another question Urban Development minister Kamal Nath in a written reply tabled in the Lok Sabha said that deficiencies were found in balanced cantilever cross girder of Noida City Centre metro station which have been repaired and normal service is resumed here.
He said that first and last cantilever cross girder developed cracks in arms supporting down line platform of Noida City Centre metro station leading to sagging of Delhi end of platform.
"The defect has been repaired and the normal service has been resumed", Nath said in his written reply. The occurrence of cracks was due to non adherence to structural drawings with respect to placement of reinforcement, he said.
