Working towards eliminating measles by 2020: govt
Press Trust of India New Delhi Government is working towards eliminating measles by 2020 and two doses of measles vaccine have been introduced in the Universal Immunization Programme (UIP) in 2010-11, Health Minister Harsh Vardhan told the Rajya Sabha today.
In 14 states and UTs where the evaluated coverage for measles was less than 80%, introduction of two doses of measles vaccine was preceded by a mass measles vaccination campaign covering children in the age group of 9 months to 10 years and 118 lakh children were vaccinated, he said.
