The Ram Madhvani-directed biopic will have the "Khoobsurat" star play the role of flight attendant of Pan Am airlines, Neerja Bhanot, who lost her life trying to save the passengers from terrorists on board the hijacked flight on September 5, 1986.
The "Issaq" actor says there was "no nervousness" working with the 30-year-old actress as she is very humble.
"Sonam was an absolute delight to work with, very humble... Her resemblance to Neerja Bhanot had to be seen to be believed. I was aware Sonam would be playing the title role of Neerja and I was simply excited to share screen space with her. I think she is gorgeous and I'm also a die-hard fan of her father (Anil Kapoor)," the actor told PTI.
"'Neerja' happened after I came across an article about director Ram Madhvani, who had selected this story to make a film. It seemed fascinating to me because it had something to do with Pan Am Airlines, which was my chosen and favourite airline growing up in America in the 80s and 90s.
