Works on five fertiliser plants being started: Govt

The works on five fertiliser plants in the country, including the one located in Gorakhpur, are being started to revive them, Union Minister of State for Chemicals and Fertilizers Mansukh Lal Mandviya said today.
Mandviya, who was here, in a statement said, "By 2020, these factories will be started and once they are started, the production of urea will go up to 65 lakh metric tonnes. At this point of time, the country consumes 50-60 lakh metric tonnes of fertilisers."
On the defunct Gorakhpur fertiliser plant, the minister said, "After the Gorakhpur fertiliser plant starts functioning, 10,000 people will get employment. Apart from Gorakhpur, fertilser plants of Ramagundam, Talchar, Sindri and Barauni are being started.
