Senior district officials, who attended the workshop, observed that toilets in houses are not only crucial for meeting healthy standards of sanitation, but they also help in upholding dignity of family members, especially women.
Speaking on the occasion, District Magistrate M K S Sundaram explained the need for toilets in houses, and described about Centre's Nirmal Bharat Abhiyan.
He appealed to all village pradhans to ensure that all houses in their villages have toilets.
Rakesh Mhatre, consultant with the Nirmal Bharat Abhiyan, asked for cooperation of panchayat representatives to realise the goal.
He requested village pradhans to take pledge that they will construct toilets in their houses.
