The mountain force has also decided to entrust its each jawan and officer to be the guardian of the sapling that they plant.
"We have decided to plant 10 lakh trees in our campuses all across the country. It is being ensured that the new plants will either be fruit or flower bearing as it will not only beautify our campuses but also provide the families living at these locations with home grown fruits," ITBP Director General Krishna Chaudhary said after planting a sapling to mark the World Environment day at a force camp here.
"This will not only preserve the ecosystem in Jammu and Kashmir but will also populate these plant species which are specific to the state," he said.
The ITBP is primarily deployed for guarding the Indo-China border even as it is tasked for rendering a variety of internal security duties in the country and abroad.
