'World is looking towards India as global power of tomorrow'

Hitting out at those criticising the Prime Minister over his foreign visits, Union Minister Jitendra Singh today said the welcome accorded to Narendra Modi in various countries is a "testimony to the fact that the world is looking towards India as a global power of tomorrow".
"The kind of response he (Modi) is getting is testimony to the fact that the world is looking towards India as a global power of tomorrow," Minister of State in the PMO Singh told reporters here today.
"Everybody should see how Prime Minister Modi is being received by the people of various countries across the world he has visited so far," he said after inaugurating the 300-KW high power transmitter of Radio Kashmir here today.

Hitting back at those criticising Modi over his foreign visits, the Union Minister said they have "no business other than resorting to criticism".
On the controversy surrounding the appointment of an IAS officer in Delhi Government, Singh said, "As a person dealing with DoPT I would not like to get involved into discussions... But having said that I will humbly request as far as civil service officers are concerned it is always advisable to treat them with little more dignity because otherwise it divides the initiative and these officers get discouraged and demoralised, thereby affecting the governance".
At the inauguration of the transmitter at Radio Kashmir here, Singh said the transmitter will cover an aerial radius of 90-100 kilometres and will replace old analog transmitter.

The NDA government is aware of the reach and potential of AIR because of which Modi choose it to air his regular "Maan Ki Baat" programme. He said AIR can play an important role in dissemination of various welfare schemes of the Centre.
Singh said, "The first temporary station (of Radio Kashmir) was created in Ranbir High School in 1947-48 during attacks by raiders in Kashmir. It was set up to counter Pakistani propaganda. It was set up in urgency so it has an important position."
Director General of AIR Fayaz Shehriya, speaking on the occasion, said as part of migration of digital radio it has been decided that by 2017 a complete switch over to digital mode will be made. AIR started with the small step in this directions in 2013, he said.
