"I think everybody is sticking to what they do best. But it would be really nice to see newer forms or some evolution of sorts within the Indian silhouettes," Gupta told PTI.
The designer is all set to showcase his latest line at the India Couture Week 2016 on Saturday and says the starting point of the collection was the reaction from the brides and couture client.
"The latest couture collection explores unusual silhouettes of unconventional forms, mixed with a lot of drapes and intelligent construction. There are multi-layered high waist skirts, lots of layering and classic silhouettes with a modern twist, making them sexy and timeless."
Gupta says there will also be newer special techniques, intricate embroideries and dramatic boned off-shoulder necklines.

Talking about the colour palette, the designer says, "There are newer softer pastels with options of vintage colours like an English blue, lavender and cherry."
The collection will focus on a glamorous line of modern Indian gowns, draped sarees styled with unusual jackets and saree lehengas.
"It features more of Indian silhouettes. Having said that, the Indian silhouettes that we are making are very new age, and I am really excited about that," he said.
"I see myself as a cocktail designer. In this collection we have quite a lot of options for all the different functions that happen in a wedding, from a sangeet - wherein we do outfits for the bride and her family, to cocktails. There are elaborate ball gowns and very contemporary lehengas."
Gupta has a long-list of Bollywood clients which includes Deepika Padukone, Kalki Koechlin, Kareena Kapoor, Lisa Haydon, Aditi Rao Hydari among others.
