The ceremony was presided over by Commander, Dera Baba Nanak Brigade, Brigadier R R Singh, a release said.
The Brigade was awarded the 'Battle Honour of Dera Baba Nanak' for successful accomplishment of the operation and the gallant officers of the Brigade were awarded 3 Maha Vir Chakra, 7 Vir Chakra, 15 Sena Medal and 14 Mention-in- Dispatches.
December 5-6 is celebrated every year to commemorate the bravery and courage exhibited by the valiant soldiers of the DBN Brigade during 1971 Indo-Pak War.
On the night of December 5, 1971, the Brigade was entrusted with the task of capturing the DBN bridge to deny a launch pad to the enemy. The forces captured the bridge on December 6.
The Brigade had the proud privilege of being the first Brigade of Western Command to hoist tricolor in the captured territory of Pakistan.
