Xi Jinping to visit Russia, African nations

China's new President Xi Jinping will visit Russia, Tanzania, South Africa and the Republic of Congo from March 22-30 in the first foreign tour after taking over as the head of state last week.
In South Africa, Xi would attend the Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa (BRICS) summit to be held in Durban.
Xi, who is also the General Secretary of the Chinese Communist Party, would also meet Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on the sidelines of the March 26-27 summit.
Xi is making the visit at the invitation of Russian President Vladimir Putin, Tanzanian President Jakaya Mrisho Kikwete, South African President Jacob Zuma and President of the Republic of Congo Denis Sassou Nguesso, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Qin Gang said today.
