CPI(M) general secretary Sitaram Yechury will tomorrow lead a delegation to Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh to convey him "concerns and sufferings" of people of Kashmir, which is in the grip of unrest post killing of a Hizbul Mujahideen commander.
"We have to express to him (Singh) our concerns about human losses, suffering of people of Kashmir and the behaviour, unfortunate responses from central and state governments to the same," CPI(M)'s Jammu and Kashmir state secretary Mohammed Yousuf Tarigami, said.
Besides Yechury, Tarigami and party's Lok Sabha member Mohd Salim will be part of the delegation.
Stating the unrest has "virtually paralysed" the Valley, the MLA from the Kashmir's Kulgam constituency noted it were the alleged mishandling and unfortunate responses from both Centre and Jammu and Kashmir government responsible for the "unprecedented" situation in the Valley.
Tarigami observed both the governments relied "exclusively" on security forces, which he claimed, repeated "old blunders" by resorting to alleged "brutal firing," resulting in deaths of "unarmed civilians".
"And when there was a debate (on this issue) in the Rajya Sabha, three innocent people were killed in security forces firing yesterday. So, one really fails to understand...On one hand, the Home Minister says we are ready to reach out to people of Kashmir and on the other, bullets are not being controlled," he rued.
Tarigami also targeted Mehbooba Mufti government over its claims "the decision to ban publication of newspapers in the Valley did not have consent of the Chief Minister and might have been taken at the local-level" and wondered who is calling shots there if not her dispensation.
Kashmir continues to witness tense situation following July 8 killing of the militant, Burhan Wani, as the ensuing clashes between security forces and those protesting his death claiming lives of 42 people until now.
