Yemen's internationally recognised government has called for a block on the broadcast of a rebel television channel from the war-torn country, the state news agency reported Wednesday.
Information Minister Moammer al-Eryani said the Huthi-run Al-Masirah television was "generating poisonous sectarianism and inciting violence and hatred", Saba news agency reported.
He added that Arab satellite operator Nilesat -- which is based in Cairo -- had stopped broadcasting the rebel outlet.
The Huthi rebels condemned the calls, tweeting a link to a live stream of their Al-Masirah channel. "Satellite operators are succumbing to pressures by the Saudi-US coalition and blocking the broadcast of Al-Masirah on Nilesat," the rebel outlet tweeted.
"We will work with all our energy to keep the voice of truth even if it costs us our lives."
