Alarmed by the frequent incidents, Delhi Metro has already installed additional railings at six stations which were identified as very prone to people taking the extreme step.

After today's incident, the organisation has expedited the process of installing additional railings at 19 stations across the National Capital Region.

Besides this, DMRC will soon be launching a public service initiative with the help of an NGO to sensitise its frontline staff --those sitting at Customer care and manning the stations-- to identify such people in Metro premises and guide them to the volunteers of NGO for all possible help.

In today's incident, a 24-year-old jumped from Punjabi Bagh station onto the road. Yesterday, a young girl committed suicide by jumping from the Pragati Maidan station.

DMRC has also put up barriers on the platforms marking the area beyond which passengers are not allowed to go and guards deployed at stations are put on vigil to keep an eye on platform areas.
