Central committee of the Young Mizo Association (YMA) today expressed displeasure over the reference of an ethnic comunity's name prefixing the name of a development area during a discussion by state officials on special funding of scheduled areas in the North-East under NITI Aayog.
State Chief Minister Lal Thanhawla, however, already clarified that the initial official press statement prefixing the ethnic community's name before the 'Development Area' was a mistake and the Congress while in power would never allow division of the state on communal lines.
The YMA, however, said in its statement about the issue being discussed on January five last and also figuring in the initial official press statement.
"Though a corrigendum was later issued by the state government, it has created doubts in the minds of the people that there are moves to divide the Mizoram territory on ethnic lines," the statement said.
