Addressing a session on Employment and investment opportunities in textiles and handlooms" at the UP Investors Summit-2018 here, Irani said, I congratulate the Yogi government for the law-and-order situation, on which it worked. Due to the improved scenario, the Yogi government has earned worldwide praise.
Stating that in the days to come, the textile sector in Uttar Pradesh would be seen as a composite growth engine, the Union textiles minister said the re-classification of the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) had helped the sector, which was all set to witness growth.
She added that in line with the prime ministers call to develop the India Handloom Brand, her ministry had registered 71 projects from Uttar Pradesh itself and provided 6.25 lakh identity cards to artisans from the state under the "Pehchan" scheme.
Advising the state government to set up a yarn depot, Irani said it would directly benefit the industrialists here and they will be able to manufacture competitive products.

For facilitating exporters, Irani suggested that the Uttar Pradesh government set up an international warehousing centre and said, Handicrafts should also be associated with e-commerce, so that national and international buyers can purchase them."
She also said jute-growers should be given certified seeds and stressed on jute diversification for the benefit of the farmers.
Those who have left the state should come back and those from outside are welcome to start a venture here, he said.
Mukul Singhal, Principal Secretary, Textiles, Uttar Pradesh government, talked about the key points of the state's new handloom policy in his address.
"The investors' summit is an opportunity to showcase Uttar Pradesh's potential. We have resources. Now, we have to create an economic system that is favourable for investments. Previously, law-and-order was a matter of concern, but strong and major initiatives have improved the situation," he said, adding that the power scenario and work culture in the state were also conducive for investments.
