Young football talents set for their 'Udaan' to Denmark

Born to sex workers, young footballers of Durbar Sports Academy here are waiting for their flight to take off as they get ready to take part in a tournament in Denmark.
Come July 21, and a bunch of 16 promising footballers will see their dream turn into reality as they board a flight to Denmark to take part in the Dana Cup.
The budding footballers, all sons of sex workers of Sonagachi have been invited to take part in the invitational Dana Cup, which starts from July 25.
It will be the first time that a team comprising of sons of sex workers will be seen in action competing with teams from across the globe.

But lack of sponsors almost saw their dreams get dashed till 'xtratime.In' decided to come forward to support them. The sports website along with leading cable networks SITI Broadband joined hands in organising a charitable fund raising concert on July 16 at Najrul Mancha, Kolkata to send them to Denmark to take part in the tournament.
The concert named 'Udaan - Flight of Hope' will see top singers like national award winner Rupankar, Usha Utthup, Ash King performing for the cause.
Director of XtraTime, Anilava Chatterjee said, "We feel as a citizen of this country it is our duty to stand beside these deprived children who are stranded and cannot go to Denmark to play the tournament due to financial constraints.
