Senior Congress leader Janardan Dwivedi on Wednesday expressed shock at the death of former External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj and said the void created would not just be felt within the BJP but in the entire political arena.

He said there is a lot for the younger generation in politics to learn from the leader who was modest and used sober language.

"In politics, she was known for the use of sober language, modest behaviour and logical arguments in support or in opposing a point and there is a lot for the younger generation to learn from Sushma Swaraj," Dwivedi told PTI.

Dwivedi, a senior Congress leader who remained the party's AICC general secretary for a long time, said Swaraj set the standards set by former prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee.

"Her passing away has created such a void that it will be felt for a long time, not in BJP alone but the entire political arena of the country. To my opinion, she was in the line of standards set by Atal Bihari Vajpayee," the Congress leader said.

Swaraj, 67, died on Tuesday night and was cremated on Wednesday.
