"I am very impressed with the way youngsters approach the game here at NKBA. They have tremendous skills, which needs to be sharpened with more endurance and physical training. They have a true potential," said the Malaysian ace who has come to impart training at an academy run by former top Indian shuttler Nikhil Kanetkar.
The 2003 All England champion is here for a three-week training session at the Li Ning-Nikhil Kanetkar Badminton Academy (NKBA) at the Shiv Chatrapati Sports Complex.
Speaking to media persons about his association with NKBA, Hashim said he found lots of talent and skill in Indian youngsters, but there was lack of proper channel to set their speed and power in place.
"The players over here have a lot of burden on their shoulders. They have a lot of things on their mind at an age when they should just be playing. Their extensive physical training ideally should start from the age of 16 onwards, certainly not before that," said the 30-year-old who bagged the men's singles gold at the 2002 Commonwealth Games in Manchester.
