Members of the Youth Akali Dal (YAD) today staged protests across Punjab against Partap Singh Bajwa and urged Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi to clear his party's stand on the PPCC chief's alleged links with drug mafia and terror modules.
Reports of protests by YAD activists were received from Amritsar, Ludhiana, Hoshiarpur, Patiala and Fatehgarh Sahib, among other places in the state.
"Rahul Gandhi has no right to stake claim to the post of Prime Minister if he wants to carry the baggage of people like Bajwa with a dirty past with him," said several Youth Akali Dal leaders protesting in front of the Ludhiana district headquarters.
After "public disclosure of old working relationship" of drug smuggler Jagdish Singh Bhola and Bajwa, it becomes imperative for Rahul Gandhi to issue directions to Congress- led UPA government to launch criminal proceedings against the Punjab Congress chief, they said.
The protesters included PWD Minister Sharnjit Singh Dhillon, Advisor to CM Maheshinder Singh Grewal, former minister Hira Singh Gabria, MLAs Manpreet Singh Ayali, S R Kaler, Ranjit Singh Dhillon and Darshan Singh Shivalik.
