A case of murder was registered at Chhawla police station and police focused on the discrepancies and gaps in the story narrated by Lalit, Kumar said.
During questioning, Lalit broke down and accepted his role in the murder, police claimed. He admitted that he had given a contract of Rs 8 lakh to Sahil and provided him a pistol for killing his wife, according to police.
Lalit was, however, not ready to do so and quarrels occurred between the couple frequently. He was under tremendous pressure and wanted to come out of the situation somehow and planned to eliminate his wife, the police officer added.
