Youth assaults traffic home guard

A traffic home guard of Ultadanga Traffic Guard was assaulted by a youth who was asked to stop while he was jaywalking at Hudco crossings in the Manicktala Police Station limits today, police said.
Traffic guard Younis Mondal (28) was assaulted by Soumen Kundu, a resident of Ultadanga PNT quarters, when the policeman restricted him from jaywalking at the Hudco crossings this morning at around 10.20AM, they said.
Locals gathered and rescued the traffic guard and caught hold of Kundu and later handed over to the Manictala Police station, they said adding that Kundu has been charged under IPC section 353 (Assault to deter public servant from discharge of his duty).
