The accused Arjun Kumar (20) yesterday took the 5-year-old girl to a house in Malakpur village by luring her with sweets and attempted to sexually assault her, they said.
Locals caught Kumar during the act and handed him over to police after thrashing him, Kairana police said.
A case has been registered against Kumar and he was sent to jail.
