Youth attempts to rape woman priest in a temple

A youth allegedly attempted to rape a woman priest in a temple here and she was seriously injured during the incident, police said today.
The incident happened yesterday in a Shiva temple at Muradpura village here, and the victim was seriously injured when she tried to resist the rape bid, they said.
"The accused Balu entered the temple and allegedly tried to rape the woman who was injured seriously when she tried to resist him," SP Rural Alok Priyadarshi said.
When some locals reached the temple, they caught hold of the accused, beat him up and later handed him over to the police.

A case has been registered against Balu under sections 376 (punishment for rape) and 511 (punishment for attempting to commit offences punishable with imprisonment for life or other imprisonment) of the IPC, he said.
